4. LEARNING OUTCOMES

Learning Outcomes

(1) Manage and configure TCP/IP
(2) Describe and configure network services

5. ASSESSMENT- DETAILED REQUIREMENTS

Your task is to produce a report which:

(i)

documents the network architecture of the BitTorrent service. This should discuss the protocols involved, client and server configuration and any technical features which make this service efficient.

(ii)

discuss the technical methods that an academic institution might use to prevent BitTorrent use. You should also evaluate how (or if) BitTorrent can be restricted to legitimate use only. For example it might be used to download Fedora Core 6 iso images.

(iii)

discusses why BitTorrent was implemented in

Python.

Your report should consist of a paper based word processed document and not be more than 1500 words. The word count is deliberately restricted in order to focus attention on originality and brevity.

This assignment must be your own work and you must cite all
references. You must submit a paper copy of your assignment during
the lecture specified on the front sheet.
